Traveling back to high school days with today’s recipe. My mom spent most of my teen years cooking and hosting. Every single fall weekend she would make enough chili to feed an army, hot fudge cake, sweet tea and lemonade. Small town life meant Friday nights were for football followed up with “Momma Pam’s” cooking. And we loved every minute of it. Fast forward to today and this lemonade recipe is still in demand. Now it is my kids she is cooking for and they love lemonade. So today, I’m sharing this simple lemonade recipe with you.
Simple Lemonade
Slice 6 lemons into half inch slices. Squeeze with your hands and drop lemons into a large plastic pitcher. The kids loved this part. I used a gallon pitcher.
Pour 2 cups of sugar over the lemons. Set aside.
Bring 6 cups of water to boil. Pour over the lemons and sugar. Stir vigorously. Let the mixture cool stirring occasionally.
Using your hands, remove the lemons and give them a quick squeeze. We want all that lemon juice!
Add ice cold water to fill your pitcher to complete your lemonade.
Your lemonade may be tart or less so depending on your lemons. Add sugar to taste. I prefer mine tart but of course the kids love it sweet. Sometimes two batches are required.
Wouldn’t it be cute to serve in one of these glass pitchers?
I hope you enjoy this lemonade as much as I have over the years. It’s a perfect summer treat and still pairs perfectly with chili and football.
