Can you believe Memorial Day weekend is this weekend?!?! It seems as if March and April were 2,000 days long and May has flown by! As many of you, we will be celebrating from home this year. Without too much on the agenda, I want to have a few activities lined up for the kids. I find that the simplest routines are the most successful. So here are a few simple ways you and your family can celebrate Memorial Day this year.
Sidewalk Chalk Art
I forgot about sidewalk chalk for awhile because I thought as my kids got older they wouldn’t be as interested. Wrong! The art just gets a little more detailed and a lot more fun! We had fun with this design for Easter. I see a sidewalk chalk Flag or Fireworks in our future!
Make a Fun Dessert
There are so many great ideas on Pinterest for easy desserts that your kids can help make like fruit creations, brownie bites and trifles.
Send Care Packages
I love the idea of sending care packages to soldiers or a family you know that has lost someone while serving in the military. It serves as an opportunity to teach why we celebrate Memorial Day as well as a fun activity the kids will enjoy.
Don’t forget those backyard games!
Kids love when we join in on the fun! Pull out those cornhole boards, lace up your freeze tag shoes and fill those water balloons! Just because we are home – actually BECAUSE we are home with fewer distractions and fewer places to go, we have another great opportunity to make this a fun Memorial Day weekend. This guys is ready for freeze tag!
It doesn’t have to be complicated. A quote in Own Your Everyday by Jordan Lee Dooley says “you don’t have to be impressive to be impactful”. I love this statement and it applies to so many aspects of life. Taking on new ventures, simple holiday celebrations, vacations, staycations, every day routine. The point is to be impactful, right? Not impressive.
So have a fabulous and impactful Memorial Day weekend! If you need a few items to help celebrate this weekend, here are a few inexpensive ones on my list delivered straight to your door.
